Welcome to Day! š
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Professionals,
Hello, Iām Martine and Iād like to personally welcome you to the Day Visual Planner community!
If youāve found your way here, chances are youāre a parent, care giver or professional like me who has tried many tools to help a young Neurodiverse person in your care understand a daily structure and nothing seems to be working.
Perhaps they are someone who is autistic, has ADHD, or experiences pathological demand avoidance⦠perhaps they experience all three and numerous other neurodiverse challenges. You may have tried countless tools to help them understand and implement daily routines, only to find that nothing truly fits. Youāre searching for a planner that genuinely worksāa way to navigate each day with less friction, anxiety, and mental load than traditional systems often bring.
You are not alone and you are in the right place!
The world is often designed for one type of mind, leaving neurodivergent individuals and those who support them facing disruptive routines and unpredictable schedules, leaving everyone involved feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and eventually, burnout.
For many, managing simple functions is not about willpower- itās a daily challenge against cognitive overload and uncertainty and it is not something any one chooses to feel.
My son was experiencing all of this and more. His anxiety levels became life limiting, his behaviours unmanageable, exhausting and emotionally devastating for all of us. I understood him the best, so I had to find a way to help him.
Thatās why I created the Day Visual Planner.
When I set out to create Day visual planner app for my son, I wanted something that truly worked for him. Testing Day together became an unexpected, joyful experience, and as he learned to trust the plannerās consistency, he steadily realised how helpful it was. Each morning, his routine was familiar and comforting because it didnāt change until HE changed it. Even as the dayās colours changed, the steps remained reliable and unchanged.
Planning Should Be Clear, Not Confusing
My approach is simple: planning should be personal, productive and accessible. It should support you even when words are hard to find and it should ease anxiety by showing exactly whatās happening next- especially in those moments when youāre starting to become overwhelmed.
Visual planning is a powerful tool for anyone who processes information through images, colour, and clear structure.
My Approach Is Built On:
- Reducing Anxiety Through Predictability:Ā Visual schedules, broken down step-by-step, remove the fear of the unknown. When sensory overload strikes, we replace verbal demands with simple, digestible visual cues.
- Supporting Executive Function:Ā Overwhelming tasks like āgetting dressedāāare broken into manageable steps (āunderwearā, āsocksā, āt-shirtā, ātrousersā), making the impossible feel achievable. Every completed task is a victory.
- A Gentle, Flexible Structure:Ā Day offers a supportive framework for the whole family. Tasks can be added, removed, or rescheduled as needs change, daily or even hourly. The worry of āwhen will I do my favourite activity again?ā is replaced by the reassurance that it is planned, visible and WILL happen.
- Fun: Often forgotten when putting a structure into place is the element of fun! When your daily routine becomes a comfort you can confidently rely on, you can afford to have a little fun with it- together!
The Day Visual Planner and this community are here to be your resource, your support system and your advocate. We invite you to explore our visual app and discover what it feels like to have a planning system that truly works for you and those you care for.
Welcome to a calmer, more confident way to plan your day.
Weāre so glad youāre here with us!
